Elizabeth Arena, M.D., F.A.C.S., is a highly skilled surgeon who is double board-certified in general surgery and complex general surgical oncology. Dr. Arena leads a team of compassionate professionals at her private practice in Beverly Grove, Los Angeles.
Dr. Arena and her team offer individualized, comprehensive treatment plans using a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to care. They provide in-house ultrasound, genetic testing, and high-risk screening for accurate and timely diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. Dr. Arena also manages benign disorders of the breast, including benign lumps, cysts, infections, pain, and other common breast disorders.
As a specialist in skin- and nipple-sparing mastectomy, Dr. Arena provides the highest standard of care, using the most up-to-date conventional methods, as well as incorporating alternative strategies in select cases. Dr. Arena involves each patient in their plan of care, empowering them to make their own educated decisions rather than making decisions for them.
Dr. Arena began her formal education at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. She received her medical doctorate from the New York University School of Medicine in New York City, where she graduated with honors in 2005.
Dr. Arena completed a seven-year general surgery residency at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. During her time at Yale, she dedicated two years to basic science research studying electrolyte balance in the gastrointestinal tract. In 2014, she finished a fellowship in surgical oncology at the John Wayne Cancer Institute in Santa Monica, California.
With 15 years of experience and expertise, Dr. Arena is one of the most esteemed breast surgeons in the greater Los Angeles area, having the honor of becoming one of the first-ever American Board-Certified Surgical Oncologists.
Aside from being an expert in malignant and benign breast conditions, Dr. Arena has extensive experience in the surgical treatment of melanoma and the skin and soft tissue. She maintains an active general surgical practice as well, treating common disorders such as gallstones and hernias. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and the Society of Surgical Oncology.
